To update device drivers, you will need to get to the device manager… The following steps will show you how to get to the device manager, step - by - step.

1.) First you will need to locate the start button in the taskbar all the way to the left:

“SELECT” the start button.

2.) Once the start button is selected, the start menu will appear:

3.) In the start menu, locate the computer button in the center of the right column:

“RIGHT- CLICK” the computer button.

4.) Once the computer button is selected, a popup will appear which looks like:

“SELECT” the properties option located at the bottom of the popup.

5.) After you select properties, the system menu in the control panel will appear:

6.) In this window, you will notice the device manager option in the upper left corner:

“SELECT” the device manager option:

7.) Now this will finally bring you to the device manager where you can update any drivers on the system:

Now I will show you how to use the device manager to update any device driver.

8.) Now you need to locate the device you would like to update the driver for ( I will use my network adapters for this example ):

To the left of the device, you will see a triangle “ CLICK ” the triangle.

9.) After selecting the triangle located to the left of the device, a drop down menu will appear revealing the drivers for that device:

10.) In the drop down menu, locate the driver you will update ( I will use the Intel(R) wifi link 1000 BGN driver for the rest of this example ):

Once you have chosen your driver that you will like to update, “ RIGHT – CLICK “ the device driver.

11.) After right clicking the driver a popup menu will appear:

“SELECT” update Driver software…

12.) This will bring you to a menu with 2 options:

13.) To have the internet automatically try and find the updated driver for you “SELECT” the search automatically for updated driver software option:

14.) To add a driver from your computer “SELECT” the browse my computer for driver software option:

15.) A new menu will appear with a browse option to locate the drivers:

16.) “SELECT” the let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer:

17.) Which will list all drivers on your computer compatible with your device:

18.) “SELECT” the driver you will like to update with and then “SELECT” next on the bottom of the menu:

19.) The driver will begin to install:

20.) When the device driver is finished installing:

“SELECT” close at the bottom:

21.) You can follow these steps to update any device drivers on your system.

Possible reasons for update device drivers:

~device isn’t working properly

~device was replaced or repaired

~better updated driver received from windows update
